On Thursday 25th January, Burton Salmon School hosted the KS2 Orienteering Festival, organised as part of the 2023 - 2024 Small Schools Programme.
We were so lucky with the weather as it stayed dry for the whole afternoon. There were approximately 120 children who attended for the 2 hour session, from a number of local primary schools, including Barlow and Chapel Haddlesey from our federation, Tockwith, Barkston Ash and St.Joseph's - Tadcaster.
The children had great fun exploring all the outside nooks and crannies of the Burton Salmon grounds and engaged in fantastic teamwork!
Here's Moses' account of the afternoon: 'I was in a group of 5 and we had to read a map and follow the coordinates to find a hidden picture. I enjoyed how well the pictures were hidden around school. The other schools were very competitive, but all joined in and had fun!'
