It was finally Class 1's turn to invite Naomi and Pepe (Rocco's Mum and Dad) from Jasmine Pottery Studios to come into school to show us what it is like to work with clay and make the most beautiful clay tiles. The children had a fabulous time learning new skills!
We had to listen carefully to instructions and choose a design. We learnt how to attach two pieces of clay together by scratching the surface of the parts we wanted to attach and use a pottery glue. This would make sure that when they are fired, they would stick together. We then chose our own colours to paint them.
Afterwards, Naomi and Pepe took our tile designs away to be fired in the kiln. When they return to school, we will put them on display in the classroom so they can be enjoyed by the children, and you will have the opportunity to see them during our next open classroom, in the summer term. It was a great learning experience for the children to be able to see their designs come to life.
Many thanks to Rocco's Mum and Dad.
