Today we had the pleasure of Mrs Hall and her Kelly Kettle!
A Kelly Kettle is a type of camping stove with an inbuilt container and central chimney, enabling cooking and water boiling that only needs deadwood as fuel. Its origins date back to the 1890's to a small farm in County Mayo, Ireland. A young farmer and fisherman called Patrick Kelly developed his first kettle out of tin and this is who it is named after.
As part of our Forest Schools, we observed how to make a small fire and warm up the kettle for hot chocolates.
Everyone stayed in the circle of trust, and we were incredibly proud of how safe the children were.
Thank you Mrs Hall and well done Class 1!
