Twig's visit

Twig came to visit last Monday (26th September) and spent time in all 3 classes. She listened to readers and spent time sitting quietly with the children.

Reading to dogs has been proven to help children develop literacy skills and build confidence, through both the calming effect the dog’s presence has on children as well as the dog listening to children read without being judgemental or critical. This comforting environment helps to nurture children’s enthusiasm for reading and provides them with the confidence to read aloud.

‘Twig came in and it was nice to see her. We got to stroke her’ – enthused Avelynn and Ashton said: ‘When Twig came in, I was a bit scared but when I sat next to her, I felt a bit less scared, and in my head, I was meditating’.
