Rainbow salad

During our healthy lifestyle club (after-school Multiskills) run by Mrs Hall, we usually split our sessions into 2 x 30 minute slots.

Each week the activities have been chosen by the pupils. To date, we have taken part in archery, mindful colouring, rounders, water-colour painting, a full session of cricket, drawing and food technology  - and today's activity which was making a rainbow salad. Here's the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Carrot sticks
  • Mayonnaise
  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Grated cheese
  • Cucumber
  • Sweetcorn

Method:

  1. Clean and wash out your tub/container
  2. Slice up the ingredients, such as cucumber, carrots and tomatoes
  3. Place all of the ingredients in layers in the container
  4. Now you have your Rainbow Salad. Hope you enjoy it!

The children have voted unanimously that they have enjoyed the club and hope to continue after the Easter break. Each of the children chose the following as their favourite activities:

Toby - salad-making

Ayva - salad-making and cricket

Mila-Rose - archery and salad-making

Jessica - archery and rounders

Jennifer - painting and rounders
