At our Federation Hub School, Chapel Haddlesey, children and staff have still been busy working in the school garden, despite schools being closed. The garden is looking fantastic and is having such a positive impact on the mental health and physical wellbeing of staff and pupils involved. The aim is to teach the pupils horticultural skills, how to lead a healthy lifestyle, seed to fork and to simply enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. We aim for the garden to be sustainable and to be able to use it all year round and this hard work will go towards the Food for Life award. We are growing herbs, fruit and seasonal vegetables which will be used for cookery club and in the school kitchen. To help with the upkeep, pupils are potting up extra plants which will be on sale to the local community to raise funds for more equipment, compost and seeds.
