Burton Salmon Community Primary School is a popular, village school in North Yorkshire. Children come here from all over the local area to experience an exciting education that we are exceptionally proud of.

This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.  We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

What we’re about

Whilst we believe that education should be fun and that coming to school should be an enjoyable experience for all of our children, we take the issue of learning very seriously.

It is our duty to ensure our children are ready to flourish 'beyond the school gates' and have the capacity to be successful in what will be their 'modern Britain'. To facilitate this, we have designed a curriculum that is stimulating and ambitious - developing literacy and numeracy skills to a high standard whilst developing a keen sense of what it is to be 'British' in a Britain, celebrating the differences we all have in our life choices, relationships and, indeed, opinions.

No child at Burton Salmon should ‘slip through’ the net. We firmly believe that ALL children should be able to read and write by the time they start secondary education, regardless of their starting point in life and staff work extremely hard to ensure that all of our children’s potential is both recognised and realised.  By the time our children are ready to leave our school we fully expect that they can look back on their time here and at their personal achievements with a sense of pride and that they can look forward to secondary school confident that they can achieve whatever goals they set themselves.

Whenever people come to visit our school they are impressed by the things they see. Classrooms ‘buzz’ with children going about the business of learning. A practical, hands on approach to learning creates an atmosphere in which children are intrigued by the different experiences they are introduced to, where they are encouraged to ask questions and to search for answers. If you have not been to our school before and want to know more then we strongly suggest contacting us for a visit, we would be proud to offer you a personal tour.
